Carol Concert, Newsletter and Class attendance w.e 16th December 2016

Christmas Concert 2016
We welcomed parents to share in our carol concert today. The assembly was opened with the Reception children each carrying a Cristingle, or ‘Christ Light’ which consists of:

  • An orange, representing the world;
  • A candle pushed into the centre of the orange, then lit, representing Jesus Christ as Light of the World;
  • A red ribbon wrapped around the orange or a paper frill around the candle, representing the blood of Christ;
  • Dried fruits and/or sweets skewered on cocktail sticks pushed into the orange, representing the fruits of the earth and the four seasons.

Everyone gathered to listen to the children speak about the Festival of Light.  The different traditions and festivals, including Channukah, Diwali, and Christianity. The children sang songs relevent to each faith and ended with a wonderful rendition of Love Shone Down.  We were delighted to welcome Mrs Clark back to join in our celebration.
