Welcome to Year 3
Teacher: Miss McCafferty
Termly Overview:This will give an outline of what will be covered in each curriculum area.
Year 3 Overview – Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open PDF.
If you are interested to find out more about our curriculum then please speak to the class teacher.
Reading – Children are expected to read every night and their Reading Record should be signed. They will also start to learn their times tables this year, (2,5,10,3,4,8). Please help and encourage them in this.
Home Learning – Home learning will be set on Fridays and expected to be returned on Wednesdays.
Our PE lessons are on Thursdays (children should wear their PE kit when they come to school on Thursdays) and Fridays (in the Summer Term the children will swim). The children need their PE kit in school every day in case sessions change. Please ensure all uniform is clearly labelled with their name. If your child wears earrings they need to be able to remove them or cover them with tape. Long hair needs to be tied up.
Mid-morning snacks and drinks
In Year 3, fruit is no longer provided by the local authority and we do not have milk. Lunchtime is also later than in KS1 (12:15 instead of 12:00). Children should bring in a snack to eat at break. This should either be fresh or dried fruit, a cereal bar, a yoghurt tube (e.g. Frubes) or similar finger food (no crisps or chocolate please). There is also the option for the children to buy a piece of fruit from the office when they arrive in the morning. This costs 20p per day or £1 for the whole week.
It is useful for the children to have a water bottle in class, so that they can have a drink quickly, particularly when the weather is hot.
DoJos (avatars) and Housepoints are awarded for positive behaviour and good work.
