September 2023

Dear Families,

Please find our OFSTED reports below.

In September 2017, the school was inspected by Ofsted and at that time was judged to be Requires Improvement. When I joined the school full time in April 2019, it was clear we had very low starting points in many areas. This is all documented and acknowledged with HCC, Governance and our HfL advisor. The current Ofsted report shows we have made rapid progress over the last 11 months, which has been backed up by all our partners.

At the start of my headship, I put into place a 3 year School Strategic Development Plan. I am pleased to say that we are now on our second incarnation of this. Since the inspection in March 2020, and subsequent inspections Remote and in July 2021, and despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the school has continued to grow and improve. Recent examples include;

  • The curriculum is established with clear Intent, implementation and Impact with the Millbrook child in mind.
  • Phonics and early reading are a focus across the school with the use of Monster Phonics
  • Each classroom is freshly decorated
  • Each classroom has been fitted with a proactive smart screen
  • The assembly hall now has an 86” smart screen fitted
  • Outside areas are being spruced up with the many years of Ivy growth being removed
  • Mrs Cain and I are currently developing the EYFS outdoor area
  • Wider opportunities for children such as the London Mini marathon and The Big Sing at Wembley

More importantly the school successfully achieved the Quality Mark in basic skills (reading, writing and maths) across the primary phase. EYFS has achieved the Quality Mark which is an exceptional achievement in reading, writing and maths. These are highly recognised in Education as benchmarks of school performance.

We are currently bench marking against the International Schools Award, Science Mark and the Sports / PE Quality Mark. All of which I am sure will be successful.

We have an exceptional staff team, from Miss Harris all the way through to the teachers. They all go that extra mile for the children and have fun doing it.

We are already aware of and working on the 4 main areas Ofsted have recommended. Therefore, the School Development Plan for 2022-23 has only needed a minor change.

Rest assured, the staff and I will continue to ensure nothing less than 100% input is given to your children so that they get the education they deserve.
