School’s Ethos and Values

Our school is a place where we have lively and enquiring minds, where each individual is valued, nurtured and encouraged to develop so they are successful and confident members of our community and have an embedded life-long love of learning.

We value both academic and non academic achievement and strive to provide a curriculum that encompasses all areas of learning. Our curriculum is enriched by school visits as well as visitors and groups coming into school.

school ethosThere are number of After School Clubs which are run throughout the year and we work closely with the CHEXS partnership to ensure that parents are involved in activities too.

As a school we provide access to support for parents and children who are experiencing difficulties away from school life. Our links with the community are continually developing and we work closely with the Health service, the local children’s centre, the A10 sports partnership, BCW sports services and CHEXS . Our school provides the facilities for a weekend and holiday time Special Needs group . Local residents W.E.R.A use the school for their annual meetings .

Sports Premium Funding:

The Department for Education’s vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium states that:

All pupils leaving primary school are physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport’

In Millbrook Primary School the sports premium funding of £8820 is being used to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport we offer.

PURPOSE OF FUNDING

Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport; they have freedom to choose how they do this. This is how you can expect to see the funding being used at Millbrook this acadmic year:

  • A school environment which encourages children to be physically active and make healthy lifestyle choices.
  • All students from year 1-6 will be taught by a specialist PE teacher for at least 1 hour a week.
  • Providing a wider range of physically active lunch and after school clubs for children of all ages.
  • Supporting the financial cost of extra-curricular sports clubs, particularly for pupil premium children.
  • A wider range of inter school competitions running which increases pupils’ participation in the School Games competitions.
  • A10 staff spending time in school teaching different classes and providing a variety of sports competitions.
