Our intent for the Computing curriculum is that it will provide opportunities for pupils to explore and develop their ideas through problem-solving situations. This will encourage pupils to discuss their ideas through questioning, which will help to underpin their computational thinking.
Pupils will also be encouraged to become critically aware of their own and other’s online behaviour. They will develop effective strategies for staying safe and making a positive contribution online.
Computing at MPS
At MPS we use the HfL Computing Scheme. This scheme has been created by the Herts for Learning Computing Curriculum Team, which supports the teaching of Computing, including Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Literacy, and the safe and appropriate use of technology. It fully meets the requirements of the 2014 Computing Curriculum and is mapped to the 2014 Computing Programmes of Study.
We aim for all children at MPS to:
- use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
- recognise common uses of technology beyond school
- use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully; recognise acceptable/ unacceptable behaviour
- identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact
