Special Education Needs (SEN)

sen imageWe are committed to equality of opportunity for all pupils. When concern is expressed regarding a child’s progress, discussion takes place between the parents, the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). Diagnostic assessment can be undertaken if required.

If a special need is identified then the child’s name is placed on the Special Needs Register and a Passport to Learning is drawn up in consultation with all concerned. The plan includes targets for improvement, identifies the help required and who will provide it. Progress against the Passport targets is carefully monitored and parents are kept fully informed. Advisory services may be consulted if necessary.

All Hertfordshire Local Authority maintained schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) being met wherever possible through reasonable adjustments to learning and teaching arrangements.
New Government Legislation requires schools to publish a report called the SEN Information Report. This report provides you with information regarding the provision that Millbrook Primary School makes to meet the needs of SEND children.
